Once I hit adulthood, I wasn’t a big holiday gatherer. I hid around the holidays with a plate or two from friends, my favorite snacks, and…marathons. Remember those?
These days marathons still happen, but they’re much less popular than binge watching, where you can choose your marathon. Log on, do a search and voila! Homemade marathon. Believe me, I have nothing against new school binging. Do I binge watch? Sure. But sometimes, I just want to flip on the television and watch a good old marathon, commercials and all.
Yes, I get that some channels still give me marathons of the Law & Order and NCIS variety, but what happened to watching hours of Remington Steele and Murder, She Wrote? (I think Remington Steele still reigns as my favorite.) And, who wouldn’t love to watch a few hours of Moonlighting?
Look, I know there are some really good shows out now. But, can I help it if I happen to prefer Matlock’s antics and Gilmore Girls banter over dark vampire shows on every other channel? Down the road I hope to sit and watch NCIS and the Blacklist for hours on end on a holiday weekend. In the meantime, like everyone else, I’m seeking out the best way to see my favorites, some of which are listed below.
